ULTIMATE WARRIOR CHALLENGE

Saturday 10th of June 2006

Heavyweight Amateur MMA (2x5 minute rounds)

Stav “Crazy Bear” (Greece) Team Sure Grip Vale Tudo vs. Harvey Lester (UK) Team Storm
Winner - Stav “Crazy Bear” via Submission (Kimura) after 1:00 of round 1

Weighing in at 89kg Harvey was well lighter then his opponent with over 105kg but nevertheless Stav was a game opponent and after a fantastic takedown submitted Harvey early in the first round, Well done to Harvey on his debut fight!

Middleweight Professional MMA (3x5 minute rounds)

Tarcio Santana (Brazil) Team Carlson Gracie vs. Arunas Andriuskevicius (Lithuania) Team Storm
Winner - Tarcio Santana via Unanimous Decision after 3 rounds (30-25, 30-27, 30-27)

After fighting in Thai Boxing a week earlier and cutting 4kg in weight Aurunas managed to fight a very hard fight in lasting the whole 15 minutes. Even for this fight Arunas lost 6kg in 4 days weighing in at 83 kg – WHAT A WARRIOR!!! This for me was the fight of the night; an experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter from a very FAMOUS stable could NOT SUBMIT Arunas (he did try hard tough)…the stand up was clearly Arunases strong point with few very good spells as Tarcio was excellent in ground control. Nevertheless on his debut Arunas did well and earned even more respect for himself and STORM GYM – Luton! Well done to Tarcio Santana on a deserved win and maybe this is crying for a rematch?

Light Heavyweight Amateur (2x5 minute rounds)

Lee Mayo (UK) Team Sure Grip Vale Tudo vs. Andrew Tate (UK) Team Storm
Winner - Andrew Tate via Submission (Guillotine Choke) after 1:05 of round 2.

With 18 years and 81kg debuting with his first fight in the cage is very impressive, so as my student he won already before he even stepped into the cage - especially since his opponent had more then 92kg.

First round was more of a stand up struggle and a lot of shots and kicks have been exchanged with very few takedowns…Andrew throw some lovely body shots which slowly but sure tired Lee out and in round two it was so far after few very strong punches and good front kicks from Andrew it went down where he held Lee in a half guillotine and throwing some more punches – Result as above. Well done to Andrew in his debut fight.

FIGHTCLUB 'EXPOSED'

*** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE ***

APPOLOGIZE TO THE ELEPHANT GYM AS Nigel Thomas DID NOT FIGHT AS STATED BELOW. A TYPING MISTAKE WAS DONE AS DAN WEB IS FROM THE “TAUNTON UNITED DOJO’S”.

2nd of June "FIGHTCLUB EXPOSED" results:

KICKBOXING 3x2 Minutes

Nigel Thomas, STORM GYM - Luton beat Dan Webb, ELEPHANT GYM by 2nd round K.O.

KICKBOXING 3x2 Minutes

Michael Dovies, STORM GYM - Luton lost to Daniel White on point’s decision.

Starting with a mess up of fight schedule Michael had to go into the ring way before the original schedule and with a full stomach just after lunch. Nevertheless his more experienced opponent started aggressive but was almost stopped in the 1st and 2nd round by a right cross. The full stomach proved to be much of an obstacle and therefore Michael could not finish as usual. Some good kicks from both and a text book Axe kick from Michael. All in all a very good fight...Michaels second fight since a 'holiday' of 2 years and therefore - WELCOME back!

UKMTA THAIBOXING

4th of June "UKMTA THAIBOXING" results:

THAIBOXING 3x2 Minutes, 72kg

Ian Goldie "STORM GYM" – Luton beat Scott Baker "Semtex Gym" by majority point’s decision.

First from the STORM GYM to fight was Ian and I must say “This was “WAR” from round”, both worked hard with punches, kicks, knees and clinch work. Scott edged the round slightly but from round two it was a different picture – ALL Ian.  With a very high work rate and some solid kicks and punches Ian pushed the fight so hard that in the end his opponent had nothing left to answer the onslaught and was very happy to hear the bell. Well done Ian!

THAIBOXING 3x2 Minutes, 72kg

Paul Douglas, STORM GYM - Luton won against Dave Ready “Mungkorn Dam” Gym by TKO in the round two as his opponent was not able to continue.

Second STORM GYM fighter was Paul and he was up for it…seeing his opponent which had a impressive upper body and looked much older then “young” Paul I thought this will be a hard, hard fight. Nevertheless from round one it was good and solid punch kick connections which determined the fight to be in Paul’s favor and it was only a matter of time when it will finish. Round two Paul connected with some flying punches and that was it…all over for his opponent and a great victory for Paul.

THAIBOXING 3x2 Minutes, 88kg

Arunas Andriuskevicius, STORM GYM - Luton won against “Mungkorn Gym” by point’s decision.

Last STORM GYM fighter was in the Super-Cruiser weight division was Arunas who fought against a much more experienced fighter from “Mungkorn Dam” Gym. Needing the first round to wake up it was all Arunas from round two and three with his opponent being knocked out almost few times. He gave it his best but could not withstand the flying knees and high front kicks from Arunas. Good win for Arunas against a quality opponent, well done.

Thank you to all the supporters of ours which made it to the event and of course the Instructors Paul and Amir.
